Welcome Gathering
The adventure begins even before the tour itself! On the night before we set off, we’ll be gathering at our meeting point the Holiday Inn, Coquelles in Calais and we’d love for you to join us. This is your chance to meet the team and fellow Alfa Romeo enthusiasts, share stories and start soaking up the buzz of what’s to come. In the evening, we’ll sit down together for a relaxed meal where you can ask us anything about the thrilling days ahead—days filled with Europe's most spectacular driving roads and breathtaking landscapes. Prefer to save your energy for the big start? No problem, you can meet us fresh and ready on Saturday morning for the pre-tour briefing, right before the journey truly kicks into gear.
Day 1 - Calais to Colmar
Our 6-day pilgrimage across the Alps and to the Museo Alfa Romeo in Arese starts in Calais. Our route takes us quickly down through France on the Autoroutes before heading to the Alsace region and the picturesque town of Colmar. Colmar is renowned as the "capital of Alsatian wine" and famous for its fairytale appearance, featuring well-preserved half-timbered houses, flower-lined canals, and cobbled streets. Located near the German border, it blends French and German cultures in its architecture, cuisine, and history. Our overnight stay will be in the 4-star Hotel Spa Husseren located just outside the town centre.
Day 2 – Colmar to Bormio
Day 2 sees us pass over the border into Switzerland where we skirt around the cities of Basel and Zurich on our way to the town of Davos. From here we head east on route 28 climbing gently as we head towards the town of Zernez and then on to Val Mustair. From here things start to get really interesting as we head up and over the spectacular Umbrail Pass into Italy and on to the top of the Stelvio Pass. We head down the western side of the Stelvio to our overnight stop at the 4-star Hotel Cristallo in Bormio.
Day 3 – Bormio to Modena
Day 3 starts with and early rise before we head back up to the top of the Stelvio for sunrise. If you’ve never been here before then the first sight of the twisting road below you will take your breath away. This is without doubt the best time to be here, before the motorhomes, coaches, motorcyclists and cyclists clog up the narrow decent. We continue on our way, negotiating all 48 hairpins, to our breakfast stop at Prad am Stilfser Joch. The remainder of the day sees us head south through the south Tyrol region of Italy and down past Verona on our way to Modena. We hope to arrive here early enough to take in the Enzo Ferrari Museum in Modena. Our hotel for the night is the 4-star Rechigi Park Hotel in Modena.
Day 4 – Modena to Lugano
Day 4 is the day we take our Quadrifoglio's back to their spiritual home of Arese, located to the west of Milan. Here we will visit the Museo Alfa Romeo where we will have plenty of time to take a leisurely view all of the exhibits before having some lunch in the museum’s restaurant. After lunch we head north towards Lake Como and then to the town of Lugano located on the shores of the lake bearing the same name. Our overnight hotel, the Kurhaus Cademario Hotel & Spa, is situated high up in the mountains above the town and offers spectacular views across the lake. The drive up to the hotel is blast with the route twisting and turning along the way. The sound of 11 Quadrifoglio V6s bouncing off the steep mountain sides will create a special event in its own right.
Day 5 – Lugano to Nancy
Day 5 sees the start of our journey home but that doesn’t mean the fun has to stop. We rise early again so that we can say 'ciao' to Italy and experience the beautifully flowing St Gotthard Pass on route back into Switzerland and on to Andermatt. From Andermatt, we head west along the Furka Pass where we will stop at the Belvedere Hotel, made famous by appearing in the James Bond film Goldfinger. On reaching the bottom of the Furka we turn north again and climb up and over over the Grimsel Pass to complete a truly memorable morning of driving. We then skirt the cities of Lucerene and Basel before passing back into France. Our destination is the Château d'Adomenil, near Nancy. Château d'Adoménil is a 4-star hotel and 1-star Michelin restaurant located in a wooded 20-acre park near Lunéville, France. This restored 18th-century, historically authentic manor serves refined, local cuisine in a pastoral setting, making it the perfect venue for our final celebratory dinner together.
Day 6 – Nancy to Calais
Day 6 is our optional final day. You can choose to head in whatever direction you wish but the Foot to the Floor team will be getting back on the Autoroutes to take us swiftly north and back to Calais. We will stop at the famous Reims Gueux circuit on the way, where the old disused grandstands stand as monument to this legendary former motorsports venue, known as one of Europe's fastest, triangular road courses from 1926 to 1972 . The stop provides a great opportunity to capture some great group photographs as a momento of this amazing experience.
